Slow times, but I finished.  I really didn't know how to train to increase speed, and got too distracted by life to find out...until now.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Goal:  Qualify for Boston by September 2014.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Lifetime Goal: Run 42 miles or more per week for the rest of my life.

I am looking for smart ways to train and keep things interesting.

Personal:

Single.  No kids. Age 40.  I work four days a week and have 300 plus days of sunshine here in Phoenix, so I have plenty of time to train and no excuses.

After ten years of irregular running after my last marathon, I have finally committed to a goal of daily running.

I am six feet tall and weigh 215lbs.  I weighed 205lbs when I ran the two maratons in my twenties.  I got down to 193lbs in 2009, but failed to start a running program.  That, combined with a desk job, and bad habits, resulted in a twenty pound gain in three years.

I have eased my way back into running by running three miles per day for a couple weeks at an 11min. pace.  I ran my first six mile run in ten years last night.  I feel strong and want to do things right this time.  All advice and encouragement is welcome!

The first time I've run at this pace in over ten years.  Two miles in 18 minutes, which is fast for me.  Prior to the run, I took four days off in a row for rock climbing, etc.  Then ran the two miles and felt great.  Two days later, I have some muscle soreness in legs, back and neck.  I need to lose 25 lbs.  Still at 215 lbs.  I pay attention to form, however, the neck soreness still occurs.  Any input on this would be appreciated!
